Antica
Antica is short for Antinori California and represents the realization of a long-standing desire by Marchese Piero Antinori and his daughters Alberia, Allegra and Alessia (below) – the Italian family’s 26th generation of winemakers – to produce great Antinori wines in the Napa Valley. The estate is situated on the Vaca Mountain plateau at an altitude of 1,800 feet above sea level.
In September 2007, Antinori released in limited quantities the inaugural vintages of Antica Napa Valley 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2006 Chardonnay. Rich and concentrated, the Cabernet Sauvignon is well balanced with a long finish that shows firm, structured tannins and a touch of mineral. Elegant and refined, this is wine for the ages. The Chardonnay is rich and creamy in flavor and texture. Enticingly smooth flavors of pear, apple, apricot and vanilla are layered on the palate. Offering clean and refreshing flavors, this wine finishes with a long, intricate aftertaste.
