Virtually ever since the founding in 1822 of what is today U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company, our business has been associated with the rugged and authentic image of the American West. As a means of supporting our adult consumers who embrace that way of life, we have become actively involved in sponsoring rodeo and bull riding competitions.

In accordance with the Smokeless Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement’s sponsorship restrictions, we sponsor a branded Copenhagen Bull Riding team that competes throughout the year on the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) tour. One of the team’s riders, Justin McBride, captured the PBR’s world championship in both 2005 and 2007. We also have a major presence at events conducted by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and one of our USSTC-sponsored cowboys, Trevor Brazile, earned the PRCA title of world-champion all-around cowboy in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Additionally, we support the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) by providing scholarships to deserving adult student-athletes.

Just as with our two mobile marketing units for motorsports, we often arrange to have in attendance at rodeo events a third such unit, the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Western LegendsSM Tour. The interactive exhibit, which is open only to adults age 18 and older, includes various components that highlight the Western lifestyle.
